The question is about WIN time (What I need)

What happens during that time for AL students?

Our middle schooler is in an advanced math class but it seems like all the other ALAC things are optional projects. How else are kids who are tagged for ALAC being engaged during the school day?

I have the same question as A. Bradshaw. How are kids being engaged during the school day

The feedback on Actively Learn is very minimal and my child has only used it 3x all year.

How and when are middle school students identified for online/hybrid opportunities through CESA 2?

I know our specialist just started at Huegel, but we haven’t heard anything yet about getting our third grader engaged in AL. She’s been tagged for a long time but hasn’t had an opportunity yet.

@Jessica identification is a triangulation of data (quantitative) and interventions/recommendations (family/teachers/ALS, qualitative).

Our son just started to work with our AL specialist 30 minutes a week on Beast Academy and it was only after we pushed for something all year. We provided outside assessments at the beginning of the year AND he's been going up a grade in math since kindergarten so we were disappointed it took so long for that intervention. It seems as though more time is spent on identifying students than working with those students who are already identified.

@Leslie I'm sorry to hear it has taken that long. I always recommend filling out a formal inquiry form for our ALS so that they know of your concerns.

What AL will be available for 9th grade in the core classes? The AP classes are electives for freshman

@John, we've been actively engaged with her since 2020 when his kindergarten teacher pushed for him to get assessed and we emailed with her at the beginning of the year. It just seems as though they have other priorities that are being pressed on them or believe that if kids aren't vocal about something, it's ok. Not all advanced learners will show signs at school of being bored or needing more interventions.

Would really like to know more about it, and would like to know how we can have input into any major changes to AL approaches in our district.

Honors affects all AL. AP is only electives not core classes for 9th grade

How are we moving forward with a universal honors plan when we don’t know what classes will earn credit for core classes?
